Eisegesis (pronounced “eye-see-jesus”) is the very poor technique of interpretation of the Bible – according to what you already believe, whereas
Exegesis (pronounced “ex-see-jesus”) is the much more accurate technique of interpretation of the Bible – using only the Bible and it’s context – without “reading into it” from what you already believe. Makes sense, eh?
Eisegesis will let you squeeze the Bible into whatever you want it to say! But exegesis lets the verse say only what it is saying in its context, and then applying that verse’s meaning into what it may be applied to. But Eisegesis will read the verse and interpret it according to what you already believe. Not much help, eh?
