To us puny humans, everything God is in Himself, and everything God does in action — is extreme. His power is extreme. His divine nature is extreme. His knowledge is extreme. His mercy is extreme. His compassion is extreme. All that He is – is extreme.
Romans 1:20
For since the creation of the world
His invisible attributes,
His eternal power and divine nature,
have been clearly seen,
being understood
through what has been made,
so that they are without excuse.
After all is said and done, we should be able to see that we are but mere puny humans. And God is greater than we.
Creator God formed us to bring Him honor and glory in everything: everything we aspire for, everything we are, everything we do, everything we think, everything we say (Mark 12:30; Luke 10:27: heart, soul, mind, strength, love). If we allow Him into our life, we become part of His people, and He will “strengthen and establish your hearts without blame in holiness in the sight of our God and Father at the coming of our Lord Jesus with all His saints (God’s people).” (1 Thessalonians 3:12-13)
Psalm 100:3
Know and fully recognize with gratitude
that the Lord Himself is God;
It is He who has made us,
not we ourselves [and we are His].
We are His people and the sheep of His pasture.
1 Peter 2:9
But you are a chosen race,
a royal priesthood,
a holy nation,
a people for God’s own possession,
so that you may
proclaim the excellencies of Him
who has called you out of darkness
into His marvelous light
It really does not take much brain matter for us to extrapolate God’s existence (as Romans 1:20 states: “…have been clearly seen.”) The writer of Romans might say today, “What part of all which is plainly set before you – do you NOT get?”
Mathematicians do it all the time: they extrapolate – “inferring unknown values from trends in the known data”. The attributes of God “have been clearly seen” through what we see in His creation. And if we take the Bible for what it is, then, many of the specificities of God’s message to us are also “clearly seen“.
Read the Bible, where God moves and acts and reveals Himself to us, time and time again, over the centuries. Since the creation of the world – God has been “clearly seen“… “through what has been made” by Him (Romans 1:20).
“extrapolate“…extend the application of (a method or conclusion, especially one based on statistics) to an unknown situation by assuming that existing trends will continue or similar methods will be applicable.
“the results cannot be extrapolated to other patient groups”
*estimate or conclude (something) by extrapolating.
“attempts to extrapolate likely human cancers from laboratory studies”
*Mathematics: extend (a graph, curve, or range of values) by inferring unknown values from trends in the known data.
“a set of extrapolated values”
What really gets to me is His unfathomable love for those He created. Even with all His awesome power and knowledge, He cares about me. His love for me is extreme. His love for you is extreme. God cares extremely for me, one of His creation, so much so that He voluntarily died on earth in order to save me from my sinfulness. Only Christ can do that.
In all His Greatness… He chose me before the foundations of the earth were established (Ephesians 1:4). My name was “written in the book of life from the foundation of the world” (Revelation 17:8). Wow. That is extreme love. He will accept whoever chooses to truly follow Him:
John 3:16-17
16 “For God so loved the world, that He gave His [a Or unique, only one of His kind] only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish, but have eternal life. 17 For God did not send the Son into the world to judge the world, but that the world might be saved through Him.
His grace is extreme. His mercy is extreme. His justice is extreme. He did not just condemn us all to hell, giving up on us. Rather… He left His extreme throne in Heaven to make a way to justly forgive us within God’s system of extreme justice. All we have to do is respond:
Romans 10:9-13
…if you confess with your mouth Jesus as Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved; 10 for with the heart a person believes, resulting in righteousness, and with the mouth he confesses, resulting in salvation. 11 For the Scripture says, “Whoever believes in Him will not be disappointed.”
12 For there is no distinction between Jew and Greek; for the same Lord is Lord of all, abounding in riches for all who call on Him; 13 for “Whoever will call on the name of the Lord will be saved.”
How about you? Have you come to the place where you have accepted Christ as Lord? How about accepting Him now?
Daniel 10:12
“set your heart
on understanding this
and on humbling yourself
before your God”
We pray because God cares, and He hears what we say. Just like Daniel, God will respond to the prayers of those who follow Him.
Daniel 9:18
O my God, incline Your ear and hear… for we are not presenting our supplications before You because of our own merits and righteousness, but because of Your great mercy and compassion.
Daniel 10:12
Then he said to me, “Do not be afraid, Daniel, for from the first day that you set your heart on understanding this and on humbling yourself before your God, your words were heard, and I have come in response to your words.
