There is a saving knowledge of Christ, and there is a false knowledge about Christ. One connects you to God and saves you. The other does not lead to Creator God. Do you know the difference?
Which type of knowledge do you have? Do you know the difference between the two? Can you discern between what the Bible teaches is the “saving” type, and the “not-so-saving” type of knowledge of Christ?
1 Timothy 2: verses 3-4
3 …God our Savior…
4 …desires all men
to be saved
and
to come to
the [a recognition] knowledge of the truth.
Two Roads
We are natural born sinners on a road away from God. You can stay on it, and end up far, far away. But God wants all to be saved. (John 3:11-18). 1
What road are you on?
There is (1) a way that leads to destruction, and there is (2) a way that leads to God’s Kingdom.
saving knowledge
* saves you for all eternity
* frees you from bondage to sin
* gives you the legal right before God in His Kingdom – to be called His own
versus…
the knowledge which does not save you
* keeps you under condemnation
* keeps you bound in your sinfulness
* gives you no legal rights whatsoever – before Creator God
Recognition Knowledge
“Saving knowledge” of Jesus Christ is a “recognition” type of knowing, not just a mental assent type. It is that moment in time when we suddenly truly recognize Jesus for who He is… and submit our life to Him.
That saving knowledge moment happens when, in our inner soul, we bow our will to Jesus Christ and acknowledge Him as:
- the One sent by God to earth to be our sacrificial Lamb,
- the Messiah of the Old Testament,
- the Ruler of the Universe who made Himself born into a man in order to provide us all with a way to escape His coming judgement of all sin
- — and submit to Him.
That saving knowledge does not happen just in our mind. It happens with all that we are – in our inner soul, where who we are sits on the throne of our being. That saving knowledge is accepted from the throne of our life.
In that moment we dethrone our own throne, and give way to Christ the King! God becomes King of our life, and He takes up residence in us as we are made brand new inside (1 Corinthians 5:16-21).
His Terrific Party
God tells us in the Bible about His terrific party (Revelation 19:9) soon to be held — and His Way to get there.
‘Blessed are those who are invited
to the marriage supper of the Lamb.’”
-
You’ll never get to the party if you have no knowledge of how to get there, and consequently you never take those steps towards the party. You’ll miss it for sure.
All of us have an inescapable bit of knowledge of God’s Truth. It’s all around us in what we see – revealing the existence of an Intelligent Designer. Those are the facts. But what we need is that personal “saving knowledge” of Jesus.
Ever Learning – Never Arriving
A sad truth is that many folk are always seeking more knowledge about God, but never arriving at a “saving knowledge”. They are “ever learning, and never able to come to the knowledge of the truth.”
2 Timothy 3:7
Ever learning,
and never able
to come to
the knowledge of the truth.
The Simple Solution by God
There is a problem in God’s universe with sin: God is holy – and we are not. That’s the problem. That’s it. We fail His standard of holiness. The simple solution by God – to remove that sin issue – is so simple that it’s very simplicity is confusing to some.
God’s simple good news… does not require retribution, self-flagellation, penance, complicated rituals, mantras, chants, trips to any special site, heroic deeds, slaying a dragon, whipping your addiction, getting all cleaned-up to merit an audience with Him! Hallelujah for that!
What God Wants
God wants to save us from His condemnation of sin. So God sent His only Son into this world – as the man Christ Jesus. Christ was sacrificed on our behalf as a perfect sacrifice to legally take away the sin judgement of everyone who accepts that salvation.
Are you all in with that? From the throne of your life — have you made Christ your Lord and Savior?
God’s Way brings us into His Kingdom – in an instant (immediately!). Are you there yet?

2 Corinthians 2:14-16 The Message (MSG)
14-16 In the Messiah, in Christ, God leads us from place to place in one perpetual victory parade. Through us, he brings knowledge of Christ. Everywhere we go, people breathe in the exquisite fragrance. Because of Christ, we give off a sweet scent rising to God, which is recognized by those on the way of salvation—an aroma redolent with life. But those on the way to destruction treat us more like the stench from a rotting corpse.

Footnotes
- John 3:11-18
11 Very truly I tell you, we speak of what we know, and we testify to what we have seen, but still you people do not accept our testimony.
12 I have spoken to you of earthly things and you do not believe; how then will you believe if I speak of heavenly things?
13 No one has ever gone into heaven except the one who came from heaven—the Son of Man.[a] 14 Just as Moses lifted up the snake in the wilderness, so the Son of Man must be lifted up,[b] 15 that everyone who believes may have eternal life in him.”[c]
16 For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.
17 For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through him. 18 Whoever believes in him is not condemned, but whoever does not believe stands condemned already because they have not believed in the name of God’s one and only Son.
